The test is correct. Octave needs at least one axes object immediately below the figure in order to print. Matlab may be less finicky, but for the moment I'm okay with that restriction.

This is certainly a typo so I corrected it here (http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/4c0f78b3c86f).

Hi,

IIRC axes objects can be a children of an hggroup or a uipanel so this depth argument should not even be there.

Should be

otherwise "1" is used as int which gives 49.

I hesitate to simply change this because printing is somewhat fragile and I want to run ./scripts/testfun/private/compare_plot_demos.m before pushing it.
