Oh, duh. I guess I was thinking of the pkginfo command in Solaris. Anyway, thanks very much for the hint. It works great now that it's actually loaded.

'pkg list' shows what packages you have available on your system. The name will have an asterisk '*' by it when it has been loaded into the current session.

I just installed Octave 4.0.0 in Win XP. Then loaded the instrument package. Followed the examples but got this:
