Dear Adam,

I am using Octave (4.0.0 and 4.0.1 from the official OpenSUSE repos) and a self-built development version under OpenSUSE (Leap and Tumbleweed) and cannot confirm any of the problems mentioned in the original post. Are you using a certain desktop environment? (KDE, GNOME, XFCE, ...?). Maybe with a hint I can check what is going wrong with your system.

All of the reported issues are working in 4.0.1, so maybe there is some problem with your environment or the way Octave was built for your distribution. Leaving open for more information for now.

Further to comment #2, the windows are draggable and can be docked into different positions so you can have the command window above the output window, or you can have them side by side all within the main Octave frame.

Please try upgrading to the latest bug fix release, version 4.0.2. We have not seen anyone have problems with items 1 and 2 on a Linux platform.

For Item 3, the windows are detachable. Just pull them out of their frames and you can have them exist simultaneously on the desktop. Octave will remember this setting and their placement as well so you only need to do this once.

Hi,
Octave is an excellent alternative to matlab as a learning tool for students. Strongly recommend it for all students.
Few suggestions for improvements on my SUSE Linux x86-64 OS.
1) CTRL-C function does not work.
2) CLC command works in windows but not in SUSE linux
3) Add feature to reorganize work space: for example, by default, output command window and edit code window are tabbed. However, I like to see code and output window at the same time like in matlab so I can see output on run time. Octave seems to lack this option.

What is the name of a file.cc (in http://octave.org/doxygen/4.0/files.html )that is responsible to matrix multiplications and exponent of n ex: Matrix A, n=20, then A^n?
Thanks.
