Thanks for confirming. Closing, as the fix has already been released.

(The precise fix was probably r5398 in SVN.)

I was using 2.2.6. The Ubuntu repositories have an old version. Updating manually to 2.5.3, the problem has been fixed. Thank you.

Which version of nano are you using? Judging from your nanorc, you're still on 2.2.6. Please try nano-2.5.3. The problems should all be fixed.

When using multi-line syntax highlighting, bits of otherwise uncolored text near the desired piece of text to be highlighted as though it was in the highlighted section. The movement of the cursor past lines where the extra highlighting occurs causes the highlighting to appear and disappear. Editing text around these lines can also change the highlighting.

For example, multi-line comments in C. A function preceded by a multi-line comment will have the method name highlighted as though it was part of a comment. As before, moving the cursor and changing text around the function's signature line changes the highlighting of the text.
