No response to requests for more information, closing idle bug report. If the problem is still reproducible, please file another bug report with more details.

The only crash in the code editor that I've seen reported and still affects Octave is bug #42469. If the OP can confirm that this is on a system with an international keyboard layout, we can probably consider this the same bug (in Qscintilla2, not in Octave).

As for clicking m-files, it sounds like the OP is opening m-files from nautilus or whatever system file browser, Octave is starting up and executing the m-file, and then exiting (expected behavior).

And unfortunately this is likely to be Ubuntu 15.10, rather than Octave's fault. Many users have been fine with the 4.0.0. GUI.

You need to give us more information.
When you start octave and then use the command window does it work?

Is the problem only with the editor?
What editor are you using.

When you click on an M file is octave already running?
How did you install octave?
Tell us more!!!

GUI is almost unusable to me in its current release.
1. when I double click .m files, the GUI window appeared briefly before it crashes.
2. when I edit the code texts, it will crash when it tries to auto-suggest/finish the word.

So frustrated that 4.0.0 is this broken under Ubuntu 15.10 64-bit.

Please help.
