Already "fixed" in nano-2.5.1, by disabling the relevant regex.

You can fix it locally by editing /usr/share/nano/c.nanorc and commenting out the line that starts with 'color brightyellow start'.

When editing C source files (.c, .h, etc) the default syntax highlighting rules cause everything up to the next quote character to be highlighted in yellow if a backslash ends a line containg a string.

To reproduce, open a C source file an add ""\\ to the beginning of the file.
