Confirmed for classdef classes. Old @-style classes do show the size of the class in bytes correctly.

Classdef support is an ongoing work in progress. Please consider consulting the wiki page for limitations of classdef, and add this item to the page if not already there:

The bytes property does not seem to be calculated for class objects.

octave:1> q = myclass;
octave:2> whos('q')
Variables in the current scope:

Attr Name Size Bytes Class
==== ==== ==== ===== =====
q 1x1 0 myclass

Total is 1 element using 0 bytes

octave:3> w = whos('q');
octave:4> w.bytes
ans = 0

--------------------------
myclass.m

classdef myclass

properties
A=randn(5000);
end
end
