Wow, what an interesting find. I'm able to reproduce the issue on Linux as well so I've changed tho Operating System to "Any". The issue also affects 4.0.0 so I'm changing the release field on the report as well. This needs to be fixed on the stable branch and incorporated into the next 4.0.1 bug fix release.

Interestingly, when I run under gdb it shows that it is not a segfault. For whatever reason, the program is actually exiting normally. I get

Confirmed with 4.1.0+ (dev version) as well.

I'm using octave 4.0.0 GUI
When I press enter with an empty field and "global search" ticked, in documentation sheet, octave crashes instantly.
