I've pushed the bug fix + several other improvements to the repo.
Hopefully next week there's a new io-2.2.11 release.

Ah yep now I see it, sorry - was a busy week :-)

Anyway I think I have already fixed it, please try attached file (swap it into ./share/octave/packages/io-2.2.10/private/) and report back.

...so the fix seems to work for me.

The gnumeric example was attached to the initial bug report, can't you see it?

Also note that I am using Octave 4.0.0.

Once you've uploaded your gnumeric example file, I'll have a look :-)

My own gnumeric test files worked fine, so did the test_spsh.m script but obviously that's no 100 % guarantee.

It was working in io 2.2.9, so this looks like a regression.
