The last patch for bug #45540 happens to also fix this bug, so I pushed it here:

In the latest dev build I get immediate segfault if I put an axes in an uipanel and move the mouse pointer over it (I guess raises focus of the figure). This worked fine in the 4.0 release so something must have changed.

Note that this seems to work fine (axes has figure as parent).
