Thanks for your bug report. Fortunately this bug has already been found and resolved, the fix will be in the next bugfix release of Octave.

The following code will crash octave.

Tested on GNU/Linux and Windows, both GUI and CLI versions.
CLI version reports segmentation violation on exiting.

The same code on matlab results in a sensible error about [] being an illegal value for the xlim property.
