I updated the version of the manual on the web.

Aha, there's a directory under the Windows start menu under All Programs with shortcuts to 4.0.0 pdf and to html manuals and class libraries. (Since the installer isn't very Windows-ish in other aspects, I missed that. Have spent much time looking at doc panel built into Octave sans figures etc - this is better.)

If someone can copy that pdf to the url on the gnu.org server, that will resolve this bug. Thanks.

Just FYI, the full manual is included in the Octave installer for Windows and shortcuts should be created to open the local copies of the documentation, in both HTML and PDF formats. Or at least that's how it looks to me, I'm unable to test directly.

You are right, the HTML hosted on gnu.org is up to date but the PDF is out of date.

Though the HTML version claims copyright 2013, not 2015, it does say after the contents list "corresponds to GNU Octave version 4.0.0." - so that's alright.

However, the pdf version at
https://www.gnu.org/software/octave/octave.pdf
is certainly 3.8 ("This is the third edition of the Octave documentation, and is consistent with version 3.8.0
of Octave."), and needs to be updated to be a pdf that reflects 4.0. Updating this file is important since the built in doc panel (at least in Windows) does not include figures etc.

The copies of the manual available from the Support page:
https://www.gnu.org/software/octave/support.html
at direct links
https://www.gnu.org/software/octave/doc/interpreter/index.html
https://www.gnu.org/software/octave/octave.pdf

appear to be for Octave version 3.8. HTML version is copyright 2013, pdf first page says Edition 3 for Octave version 3.8.0
February 2011 - so it's even older than the online HTML manual!

I presume that neither of these manuals covers v4.0, released in 2015, at all. That would appear to be something of an oversight.

I guess I could always spend time in doc or try building a new copy from TeX on windows (what version of Tex? Errors? Gah!), but it would be good if these manuals could be updated to current.

So, please update online manuals to reflect the glory of the new features of 4.0, whatever they might be. Thanks.
