changing this to a wish with the corresponding description: use antialiasing techniques for better on-screen appearance. (was "Kerning rather bad by default")

This is related to other (closed) reports : #43795 #22730

Hm, yeah, then that’s probably because texmacs fonts are optimized for 300+dpi pixel density of print.

What I notice is that there is no antialiasing for screen output and glyphs are malaligned to pixel borders, which makes the screen output at normal font size (10-12px) undefined and comparably hard to read.
Maybe it is possible to apply screen optimizations to the tex output before it is displayed?

I see nothing unusual there, at least nothing I would call a bug.

Are you satified with kerning when you zoom in, or when you look at printed output? If yes, then consider that Texmacs uses the same algorithm to display on-screen; the only difference is the lower pixel density of the screen that indeed impacts the apearance of kernings and all ther rest. Besides using a high-dpi screen like retina, there is not much one can do about it...

On my system the kerning looks sub-par, even at rather high font sizes.

I’m on 1.99.2.

I attached an example screenshot; examples:

- first line `finished`
- second to last line `certain`
- last word `below`

It even looks like the glyphs dont align horizontally a lot of times.
