I have applied the "System Requirements" patch with two minor changes:

1) Indicate the bug number in NEWS

2) Do not add "on other packages" since octave itself is usually included in the dependencies, and is not a package.

This bug report can be closed.

Ok, here are a couple patches.

2nd one hides autoload if its false (which is should now I think).

Really adding the package maintainer this time.

Adding package maintainer to cc.

It currently lists BuildRequirements so I'm guessing that not listing SystemRequirements was a lapse and not by design. For example, the miscellaneous package requires GNU units on the system, and ncurses for build, but only lists the later on the html documentation http://octave.sourceforge.net/miscellaneous/index.html

For example, this url:

http://octave.sourceforge.net/symbolic/index.html

doesn't list that SymPy is a run-time system dependency.

If anything these are more important than the "Dependencies" line which will be resolved by "pkg" anyway.

If desired, I could prepare a patch that adds the SystemRequirements line from DESCRIPTION?
