Confirmed that this was a problem with 3.8.2 and is fixed in 4.0.0.

I have an instance of Octave 3.8.2 (current version) running under FreeBSD 10.1 (x86), which produces the below result. Not the oscillating sign of the infinities.

I currently cannot compare versions under FreeBSD, but the results are correct with 3.6.4 under OSX.
