Hi Miguel, thank you for adding your config.log. From this I can see

After you've runned ./configure it showed:

So please install the Qt (and propably you want also the osmesa libs) and run ./configure && make again

See Link in comment #1 howto install the dependencies.

I'm going to close this as invalid but feel free to comment this or ask on the help mailinglist if you need more help compiling Octave from source.

It's very likely, that you haven't installed the dependencies to build the GUI. You can check this with "grep GUI config.log", do you see

"apt-get build-dep octave" is one quick way to get them on debian based distros but could pull old or incomplete dependencies. I would suggest http://wiki.octave.org/Building_for_Linux_systems

And please attach your config.log if you need further assistance why the GUI wasn't build

Firstly, congratulations for your last release, I am exciting to start working on it.
I have just installed it on Linux but the GUI is not loaded. With the instruction 'octave --force-gui' octave starts in console mode, same result doing double click on the icon of octave.

I have installed it using the instructions in the file INSTALL: ./configure, make, make install. After that I found another text file called INSTALL.OCTAVE that says to write 'apt-get build-dep octave'. Could this be the origin of my issue?.

Apologises for my poor English.

Thank you.
