Since 4.0 is about to be released as the stable version of Octave I don't see a case for going back to 3.8.1 to try and fix this.

It is still an issue for octave 3.8.1 compiled on a mac (10.10.3) using clang-omp with the --enable-openmp flag.

I can confirm that there is no problem using octave 4.1.0+ on GNU/Linux.

Thanks for your bug report. Can you try this with an Octave built with --enable-openmp, or with one of the 4.0.0 release candidates, where --enable-openmp has been made the default?

If Octave is not built with OpenMP enabled in itself, this is expected behavior unfortunately, on GNU/Linux as well.
