@Rik I was just about to push a fix that did the same but in ov-intx.h but I guess your is fixes it better.

@Philip: I think your comment about java.lang.Short no longer working was meant for another bug report than this one.

@Carne: Good catch. Octave wasn't overloading the is_real_scalar() function for integer types. I fixed that here (http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/d34e31b07966). Closing report.

Just for completeness,

did work on 4.1.0+ from Jan. 26. I presume this changed because of the latest Java patch?

I found this bug while working on bug #44882 . Basically, the is_real_scalar method returns false for integer scalars although both is_scalar_type and is_real_type return true.
