I agree with you that it would be a great addition.

But to start with, if having color is a possibility, would it be possible to have different colors for warning and error messages?

would it also be possible to have hypertext links? For example, in Matlab, you can do this:

fprintf('Here is a <a href="matlab:disp(''click'')">link</a>.\n');
