GNU Parallel uses exponential backup sleep. This is bad if you want an accurate runtime of a child, as it can be off by as much as a second.

seq 1000 | shuf | parallel --joblog jl4 -j0 sleep 10.{}

sort -k4 jl4|less

Ideally these should sort the same as job seq.

Can the sleep somehow be woken if a child dies? SIGCHILD-handler sends SIGALRM to $$ ?
