This is a duplicate of bug #42412 (my bad) which I fixed in commit fa7268f. Thanks for the reminder that we need to release 9.2.1 (no sarcasm intended :-).

worked in 9.1, but not the latest version (9.2)

to reproduce, create a new file "foo.scm" with the following content:

(define x 1)

then bring up REPL:
