System locale of my Linux box is en_US.UTF-8. Thus, gtypist prints queries at the bottom of the screen in English, for example:

Press R to repeat, N for next exercise or E to Exit

It is generally ok, but I am studying to type Russian. So, I have to switch keyboard to English in order to proceed. However, when I start typing the next exercise, I often forget to switch keyboard back to Russian, and type few first characters in English which are obviously counts as errors. It frustrates me. Changing keyboard mode from English to Russian and back distracts my attention.

I can workaround the problem by running gtypist in Russian locale, e. g.:

$ LANG=ru_RU.UTF-8 gtypist ru.typ

At the beginning it looks good — gtypist now asks questions in Russian:

Нажмите `П' для повторения, `С' для следующего упражнения, или `В' для выхода

But there is another problem here: (1) I am studying to touch typing — I should not look at the keyboard at all. Some old guide books even recommend to cover keyboard with a carton screen to student cannot see the keyboard. I do not use such screen, but my keyboard does not have Russian letters on keys. (2) I am in the very beginning, I am studying start position, so location of letters П and С are not yet know to me, so finishing an exercise is a kind of problem.

I believe navigation keys (including keys to repeat current exercise, move forward or exit) should be language neutral — like Space, Backspace, Enter, or Escape (and also Home, End, PageUp, PageDown and arrows).
