Yes, I did understand the change to singular. That seemed quite logical. However, the conjugation of "salutare"/"to greet" is still incorrect.

"saluto" is first person, as in "(ego) te saluto"/"I greet you", so it would be correct to say "ego moriturus te saluto"/"I, who I am about to die, greet you". Here "moriturus" is an adjective, not a noun. Saying "moriturus te saluto" is incorrect because it misses the subject "ego". In "te saluto" it is okay to leave out the "ego" since it is unambiguous and can therefore be implicit.

The famous phrase "Morituri te salutant"/"Those who are about to die greet you", however, is in third person. This is for rhetorical reasons and should be preserved when transforming to singular.

Therefore I would still suggest that "moriturus te salutat" is correct and most adequate.

The original was first person plural because several gladiators would say it simultaneously. We changed it to singular because we are a single process.

The current error message for the "halt" error is:

Moriturus te saluto

This is incorrect since "saluto" is first person,
not third person as the famous phrase calls for.

The correct phrase is:

Moriturus te salutat

See http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/salutare for the relevant conjugation table.

Sorry for the pedantry. ;)
