I think this was recently fixed.

Dear developers,
pspp / psppire crashed when a FREQUENCIES command issued for a variable, that has only MISSING/SYSMIS values.
Main error message: psppire assert failure: psppire: src/language/stats/frequencies.c:373: calc_percentiles: Assertion `ft->n_valid > 0' failed.
I have attached my crash log from Ubuntu 14.10. My pspp version is 0.8.4 installed from PPA.
