The old Adobe fonts have been replaced by the TeX Gyre fonts in the meantime, so this problem should no longer exist.

This is specific to using the "TeXmacs Helvetica" font. Most likely a bug inside the font that Freetype cannot handle. A workaround is simply to change font => It's not a Texmacs bug.

I edit the description in order to better reflect this:
Crash when export into pdf after a specific sequence of actions involving diachritics => font bug : character é in "TeXmacs Helvetica" in section title cause crash during pdf generation.

To be more precise;
- The program crashes after validating the file name and some while. The conversion process produces invalid pdf files (according to evince)
- This is not the sequence of actions which produces the crash but the file itself: saving the document with that content, opening it later and then trying to export to pdf will also make TeXmacs crash.

(Version 1.99.2)

- Start texmacs,
- Create a section (Alt+1)
- Insert a French acute e (é) in the title of the section (meta+' e)
- In the menu "Document->Font..." choose the font "TeXmacs Helvetica"
- Go the menu "File->Export->Pdf..."
- Type any file name

The above sequence crashes TeXmacs.

When run with the --debug option, texmacs does not seem to provide information on the crash as nothing appears after the font has been selected.

There is no crash if instead of Helvetica, the font is let to the default, I also tried another font with no crash.

There is no crash if instead of "é", a normal letter e or P is put in the title.

There is no crash if instead of a title, the letter is in normal text.

There is still crash if the e acute is replace by a "n acute" (meta+' n) or a "e grave".
