After 4/3 4/off, you have only 3 men left and 66, 55 (6/1 3/off 3/off 1/off), 44 and 33 win.

With my men on 6, 4, 4, 3 and gnubg's on 1, 1, 1, 1 and my having rolled 4, 1, the only way I can win is for gnubg not to roll doubles next, and me to roll doubles next. If I move 6/2, my highest man will be on 4, so my rolling double 6, 5, or 4 would do. Yet gnubg says 4/3, 4/off is a better move, even though it leaves me requiring double 6 to win.
