So, I start by setting up a Linux distribution on this 1 gig drive with Virtualbox, and noticed an odd defect compared to other USB devices: After install, everything else will temporarily remain on the virtual machine's list of bootable drives until disconnected, except this one. I confirmed its inability to boot by itself from the drive by trying it on an Aspire laptop, resulting in the same thing. I have GRUB on another key, so it I brought up, updated, and yes, the distro did show up, but upon attempting to boot it, it failed (This version is far newer than the other, and is mentioned in report summary.) and spat a couple errors: One was "error: no such device: [...}." and the next was "error: hd2 cannot get C/H/S values." After that, it was just press any key to continue (which went back to the GRUB menu). However, the installer for the distro did flaunt its success at its job, and it was not the only one that did that, and partial success was indeed confirmed by present files and images on the device, along with a sizeable fill of space and meaty install logs. Speficiations of things listed below for ease of reference.
Distro #1 (Not picked up by GRUB 2.02: Old.): Coreplus (latest)
Distro #2 (Picked up by GRUB 2.02 as unknown, identified correctly under advanced options but under wrong release channel): SliTaz 4.0
GRUB used: 2.02 Beta 2 9ubuntu1
USB device: iPod Shuffle 2nd gen (With a GPT partition table through Gparted)
Any more info needed (Including entire VM) will be provided upon request.
