Agreed with Matthias, try "more off" before running your script in Octave. This can be added to your octaverc startup file to make
this a permanent preference.

I guess this is not a bug but a different setup of your system. You could try the command "more off" before you start your calculation.

In a script, I use a counter that I output every 1/100th of the total calculation to know the calculation status.
On one of my 3.8.1 installation on windows-7, the results is shown in real time.
But I tried a 3.8.2 version, and a 3.8.1 on windows-XP, all results (1 to 100) are only given at the end of all calculation.
Therefor, in those last cases, I don't know DURING the calculation, the status.
