I close the report for now. The warning message does not occur in the gui-release branch and we can reopen the report if the problem with the full screen display shows up again.

Hi,

Yes. You are right. I don't have QScintilla.

I have installed QScintilla and now the error has disappeared.

Thanks for creating pre-compiled Octave version for my OS.

Also if you would like to install a pre-compiled Octave for Ubuntu 10.04, you are welcome to use the Octave team PPA:

https://launchpad.net/~octave/+archive/ubuntu/stable

There is a missing check if the editor is available before connecting the signal. This bug is already fixed in the gui-release branch.

The warning is a hint that the gui editor is not included during the build process which is the case when QScintilla is missing. Do you have QScintilla installed? I suggest to manually install a newer version of QScintilla since Ubuntu 10.04. might include a quite old one.

When you are building from the sources, you could also use the gui-release branch which includes some new features and bug fixes.

Thank You for looking into it.

When I first ran Octave GUI, I had got a dialog and a new settings file was created.

Now I went to the path that you mentioned and deleted the settings file and ran Octave GUI again and now the issue seems to have disappeared.

I am getting this message in the command window :

Warning: QObject::connect: Cannot connect main_window::set_widget_shortcuts_signal (bool) to (null)::set_shortcuts (bool)

Thank you for the report.

Did you start the GUI for the very first time (i.e. did you see a dialog at startup that a new settings file was created)? If not, could you please delete the settings file at

and try again?

The problem description is as follows:

When you run the command run-octave --force-gui, the GUI opens as a small window. But the window icon at the top thinks that screen is in full screen mode.

So when you click on that icon for making it full screen, nothing happens.

The OS I am using is Ubuntu 10.04 and Octave was built from source by me.

Compiler used : GCC 4.8.1
