Thanks all,

I tried Torsten's hint to delete the qt-settings: For now: It does work, i.e. I cannot reproduce these strange outputs and the error - for now.

I will continue with my steady work with Octave and will let you if this issues occurs again (Somehow, I have the feeling , that it will...). Anyway, thank you for your help!

I can not reproduce this with the current stable 3.8.1 either. Can you reproduce it if you delete the settings file c:\users\USER\.config\octave\qt-settings (after having made a backup) before starting octave?

Reopening as requested, screenshots do look strange to me, but unable to confirm.

Hi all,

I am afraid, that I'd like this ticket to be reopened.
After working with the 3.8.1 release at a Windows 7 PC for a while, I now face very a similiar effect again as mentioned below:

After starting the GUI and dispatching the editor window from the main window, maximizing (resizing) the main window again yields: "Critical: cannot read console output", such as strange output.

As I noticed a few threads about missing grafics/open gl support, I am wondering, if there might be a connection?

I attached two screenshots of the strange output.

Thanks for any help.

Closing as requested by bug reporter as it is no longer reproducible.

Thanks for your answer.

The issue occured at Windows 7 Professional SP1.

Yes, I tried the released Version 3.8.1 and this error did not occur again for now. Maybe, this tells you anything?

Actually, I was about to comment, that this bug seems to be solved in the released version, however, I did not tested that too much in detail, yet.

I still face some smaller problem when resizing the Command Window, but I will open up a new ticket for this, if this second problem should remain.

So far, I think this bug can be closed?
Thanks again.

What version of windows? Have you also tried the release version of 3.8.1 ?

Using Octave 3.8.1 -rc3

Upon startup of the GUI, before entering any Octave code, resizing the main window of the GUI results in the error:

"Critical : cannot read console output"

in addition, strange colorful signs show up (see attached Screen Shot).
