I committed a fix a couple weeks ago to CVS to resolve this issue. It was a Python/Thread issue. The next release 1.03.000 will resolve this.

Thank you very much for the fast reply, Michael.

I've installed gnubg in the Universal mode. Same result. gnubg-cli.exe crashes in gnubg.findbestmove().

Yes, both versions of gnubg (with and without AVX support) are 1.02.000.

Without using "findbestmove" (only "hint"), the script works well. It builds a connection to FIBS and by watching a user, all works as expected.

Greetings
Rolf

Howdy,

I did some investigation and now I am thinkign there is soemthing else going on.

I created a python script with these commands in it:

gnubg.command('new match 3')
gnubg.command('roll')
print gnubg.findbestmove()

And used gnubg-cli to run it. It doesn't seem to crash for me.

I can only guess that the script you developed encountered a problem before findbestmove, but it didn't cause a crash until findbestmove is called.

The only way I might be able to ever track down the problem is to see your script and get it to fail in a debug environment on my equipment.

I assume you are using 1.02.000?

Although I haven't tried to reproduce this, I have a hunch just looking at the code that this is specific to just the Windows builds that use either AVX or SSE.

I will put away what I think is a fix for this bug and send you a development build.

Can you verify something for me. Try reinstalling GNUBG (using the installer) and use the Universal (non-sse non-avx) release and tell me if the problem disappears? My guess is that it will work.

Hi
In my python script, findbestmove crashes (gnubg-cli.exe funktioniert nicht mehr) if I use the command gnubg.findbestmove(). The result of the previous command gnubg.hint(3) is okay.

It's still crashing inside the script. If I try it directly (new match 3, >, gnubg.findbestmove() the result is okay.

I doesn't find any additional information (a dump or something like that), to help you better.

Thanks in advance
Rolf
