@Felipe - No, none of the other commands in the context menu work.
@John - No, the file was not selected in the file browser when right I right clicked it. If I first select it with a left click and then do a right click, everything works as expected.
I note that when I right click on an item in the MATLAB GUI, it automatically highlights it for me before opening the context menu. This is probably where I picked up the habit of working this way.

Is the file that you are deleting selected in the file browser when right clicking on it to be deleted?

I can't confirm is.
creating, executing and deleting function/files works fine with MXE 3.8.0-4.
What version are you using? Portable or installer?

In the File Browser, I right click on func.m and click 'delete' and nothing happens.
If I issue the command
delete func.m
in the Command Window, it works as expected.
I am using the MXE build provided by Markus Bergholz, 3.8.0-4 on Windows 7.
