I used slightly different wording but added some documentation about this issue in this changeset (http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/d638db6d045c) on the stable branch. Closing report.

If you think something is missing from the docstring for dbstop, please provide a patch or suggested text.

In general class methods can be used anywhere ordinary functions can be used, for example type ("@class/method") or help ("@class/method"), dbstop is no different.
