It works for me in a native built octave-dev (mingw) on a Windows 7 machine.

Probably. run-octave now works for me when compiled with MSVC. I expect it to work also with MinGW. To be tested.

I believe http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/1329866151be may have fixed this issue!.

WHen running octave from the native built mingw source tarball using run-octave, the gui is never displayed. (in the mxe-octave environment)

Running ./run-octave -cli displays octave in command line.

No error appears to be displayed, and in gdb, the call to octave_exec never returns.

This is still present as of octave id b602014eeb54
