This is a duplicate of bug #40240

To create a 32bit executable in a 64bit RHEL5 host OS, I use the following:

./configure CFLAGS=-m32
make

Then test with:

cd test
perl ./run_make_tests.pl -make_path ../make

The load and loadapi tests fail. The failure is not a make bug, but is because the testload.so built by the test suite is created without the -m32 option and so is incompatible with the 32bit make executable.
