Ok, I changed this to "@sp 4" in r4583, and this will be in nano 2.3.3. If new problems arise with this fix please feel free to reopen. Thanks much!

Hi Chris,
it works great with "@sp 4".

Oh yes that's right in the title isn't it. Ok I'll see if I can find a box to put ubuntu on temporarily to reproduce this, but if you could run the "@sp 4" test before I get a chance to do that it would be much appreciated.

Indeed SP just inserts spaces between the info and the copyright information. That said I cant reproduce this issue with texinfo 5.2 nor my location version (4.13). I hate to say this with software that's supposed to be portable but I'm curious what OS you are using?
I'd also ask you to put the line back in but change it to "@sp 4" with a space and see whether that works for you.

Hello,
I'm using makeinfo v5.1
If I delete @sp4 line, nano builds.
./nano --version

This «unknown command `sp4'» is an error message from 'makeinfo'. What version are you using?
$ makeinfo --version | head -1
makeinfo (GNU texinfo) 4.13
Try deleting the @sp4 line (and maybe its surrounding lines) from 'nano.texi' and restart the 'make'. Does it then build? If not, does makeinfo spit out other errors? If so, which ones?
(The fragment containing the @sp4 is not needed to build the info documentation, it seems relevant only for a printed manual.)
