I think this patch will fix the problem:

http://hg.octave.org/mxe-octave/rev/14a434dcf672

It was working for me because I had a gpg-error-config file in /usr/bin.

There was a '.' before the /usr/i686... that is hard to see :), but was what I meant when I was talking about it being installed in the i686 directory, but not being installed elsewhere.

I believe it was previously being installed to both places.

If you are doing a cross build, then I don't understand why /usr/i686-pc-mingw32/bin should be in your PATH, or how that would be helpful since the files that are installed there are supposed to be Windows binaries that won't run on the build system.

Howerver I see that the gpg-error-config script is installed in usr/i686-pc-mingw32/bin. That's probably an error. I think it should also be installed as usr/bin/i686-pc-mingw32-gpg-error-config. Other packages may need similar fixes.

hmmm .... I'm at the same revision.

On my system, libgpg-error installed ./usr/i686-pc-mingw32/bin/gpg-error-config

When running mk-dist, and making the libgcrypt, the path n my system is /home/jdonoghue/mxe-octave/usr/bin:/home/jdonoghue/mxe-octave/usr/bin:/home/jdonoghue/mxe-octave/usr/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/games:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/sbin:/home/jdonoghue/.local/bin:/home/jdonoghue/bin"

Which doesnt include ./usr/i686-pc-mingw32/bin which would be why it is failing.

I will do clean build to verify.

I started a fresh build using ./mk-dist and it completes successfully for me.

I'm at this revision: http://hg.octave.org/mxe-octave/rev/ff35d61f226f

After commit http://hg.octave.org/mxe-octave/rev/4f9b72cf7ee7, libgcrypt fails to build as it doesny find libgpg-error.

logged failure is:

There is usr/i686-pc-mingw32/bin/libgpg-error-0.dll installed from the mxe-octave build of libgpg-error.
