Hi Pravin,

I cannot tell you that the release will be out by June, so it is better that you go with your patch.

This is pretty messy business, I can tell you.  There was much more wrong than just the ka-ra, so you might consider looking at the SVN log for FreeSerif, and maybe looking at the Devanagari tables.  (They are very complex, because FreeSerif supports Sanskrit as well, and is also meant to support Pango as well as Harfbuzz.)

I'll go ahead and close this report.

Yes, this issue is already fixed in svn tree. I missed checking svn.

When you are planning next release of it?
If its before 2013-06-18 Fedora 19 Final Change Deadline , will wait else will patch it in Fedora.

I already explained my view of the issue on the Redhat bug report.

Basically, I think this problem hs been fixed some time ago.
Could you please build from the recent SVN, to see if the problem is still present?

If the problem persists, please send images of what you see, and explain what you expect to see.

Note: In the patch provided i have not removed old rule for dev_rakaar, since it might be working well with some other redenring engine.

With proper testing of this in other rendering engine, you can remove it later.

For the time being i dont see any harm in keeping it.

For correct rendering check Lohit Devanagari rendering for these characters. or no. 27 case AT http://utrrs-testing.rhcloud.com/language/hi/gsub

Its basically problem with the Rakar feature series combinations.

I noticed this problem in Fedora, where mistakenly FreeSans became as a default font for hi_IN
