We don't import non-GNU code when a similar GNU code exists (in this case coreutils). Also request for something that requires so much code has to be justified with good usecases, not just "would be useful".

This is a feature request to utilize busybox code to further extend the available commands in grub2.  In particular, I have the 'sed' command in mind, but many of the commands would be useful additions to grub's scripting/shell support.

Also relevant is [bug #38893] Scripting -- Add command output capture support.  Commands such as sed would be useful with the ability to capture command output to a variable.

To be honest, I have no familiarity with either the Grub2 or Busybox code bases, so I'm not sure if this is a reasonable request or not.  I realize grub is not meant to be a full-featured operating system in and of itself, but the more capabilities/commands available in the grub shell, the better.
