I'm closing this as I can't reproduce the problem, even when editing/setting breakpoints for a file that should not be in the path (roots is, so I don't know why you were prompted for the cd/path change; maybe that problem is fixed now?).

If this is still a problem with the current sources then reopen, or start a new report, but I guess we need some more details.

Ok, I'm not seeing this on 7779d9947366, although this is when run using run-octave. I installed the classdef version.

Can you test if merging default onto classdef fixes the problem? There's been tons of GUI work on default since the last merge.

The following steps cause octave to hang on my Mint Linux 14 machine:

Click to add breakpoint in editor

You then get the dialog asking whether to change dir, add to path or cancel. Octave hangs, the following is displayed on the command line:
Octave must be killed to quit.

This is using classdef branch, hg id -i returns: 2ed5bc680c71
