You'll have to see that Octave Forge distributes many files. There's 93 different Octave Forge packages, Octave binaries built for MinGW and MSVS, and Mac OSX binaries. That means we have 96 latest versions, it just depends on what you're looking for.

Basically, SourceForge wording of "latest version" makes little sense. The thing you downloaded is the latest version of the econometrics package.

I can indeed select what file should be displayed to users as the latest version, but out of the 96 things, there's no way I know which one you're looking for.

It sounds like you are looking for one download for the entire Octave Forge project. The project was once distributed that way but no longer. It is a loosely coupled collection of independent packages all released on their own schedules.

I guess that SourceForge expects one release per project, which is what it sounds like you are looking for, but that is not what we have to offer. The most recently updated package will always be the one that shows up on the download link.

Thank you for your response.

I submitted this to sourceforge and they rejected it. They said "This should be raised to the octave team. They have the ability to select the best download if the auto-selection doesn't pick an appropriate file."

I was hoping to try Octave today, but I'm unsure how to get the entire release (instead of individual compenents). Can you tell me what the correct file is?

Thanks again!

This isn't an Octave bug. The problem is that SF lists whatever file we uploaded last as "the latest version". Since we have multiple uploads for multiple "projects", it ends up listing those as "the latest file".

This really is a SF bug. You should report it to them, so that they stop listing our uploads as "the latest version".

The file presented for the octave download is econometrics-1.1.1.tgz. It is not the correct file- somehow the files got mixed up. Thanks!!
