This is not a bug in Octave. This line:

says that Octave is miscompiled. The library against which it was compiled is somehow missing or removed. If you compiled this yourself, find where that library went. If you got this from your distribution, file a packaging bug with that distribution.

You may also seek help from the -unavailable- mailing list.

My system is a Sabayon 10 XFCE Edition. I've tried to remove all octave packages, binaries and libraries the reinstalled, but get the same result. JPEG has the same error.
