Happily, this bug has also been fixed quite a while ago. Try upgrading to the current stable release, 3.6.3, in order to get the correct behavior.

displaying a matrix with imagesc shows a plot with a y-axis from 1 to N. This causes the top and bottom row to have only have half the height compared to the inner rows. To keep compatibility to MATLAB the default limits should be [0.5 N+0.5]. The same is true for columns (and the x-axis).

Example:

imagesc(rand(4,4))
