That was sort of an unrelated issue. If you do "history 10 -q", the -q argument was ignored. I just patched that:

I thought all was working as intended, but just noticed the indices for the history are included in the output when the N last entries are requested.

would it be possible to make history return its output as a cell-array of strings or something?
The idea is that on unixoid systems one would be able to queue batch jobs like:
