Closing report. New bug will be opened on Octave-Forge site for signal package.

Yes, the spectrogram and specgram are both part of the signal processing matlab toolbox.

I didn't know about matlab ( and by extension octave ) being separated into a core and several toolboxes.

So I guess this is an invalid bug, and a new one should be open at http://sourceforge.net/p/octave/bugs/.

So please invalidate this bug and sorry for my mistake reporting it.

Are you sure spectrogram is a core Matlab function and not part of a toolbox? The list of core Matlab functions is here (http://www.mathworks.com/help/matlab/functionlist.html) and it doesn't have spectrogram.

There is a spectrogram in the signal processing toolbox (http://www.mathworks.com/help/signal/ref/spectrogram.html) but you would need to file a bug report with Octave-Forge about the signal package.

The function spectrogram is missing and trying to call it won't show the usual "This function is not yet avariable" message but this one "error: `spectrogram' undefined near line 1 column 1".

According to the Matlab documentation "To obtain the same results for the removed specgram function, specify a 'Hann' window of length 256." and the specgram function is already implemented in octave so I'm guessing it should be easy to implement.

I'll try to create a spectrogram.m file that makes use of the already implemented specgram function.
