Can you give my user permissions to re-open my own bugs on GRUB myself?

The patch from bug 36640 seems to fix this issue as a side effect, btw:

# sudo grub2-install --grub-probe=./grub-probe --grub-setup=./grub-bios-setup --boot-directory="${temp}"/boot /dev/GRUB_BOOT_TEST_DISK && echo GOOD
Installation finished. No error reported.
GOOD

Nice!

Well too often people disappear after leaving the bug report, so workflow is adjuster to take care of this and so bugreports can be reopened as needed. There may be a problem around partition detection with symlinks.

Would you please re-open this bug? The problem does affect grub-install.

Also, through "grub-install --grub-setup=..." people may actually be calling grub-bios-setup directly. In fact I have to, I wouldn't do that if grub-install wouldn't force me to workaround this bug in grub-bios-setup using --grub-setup in the first place.

I would appreciate if you ask before rejecting my bug next time rather than the other way around.

grub-bios-setup isn't meant to be used directly, we don't accept any bug reports where you run grub-bios-setup directly unless same problem appears with grub-install.

If I pass a device name to it: grub-bios-setup is happy. If I pass a symlink to that device: it throws an error.

If that's a feature, I'd expect grub-bios-setup to complain that symlinks are not allowed and for what reason at runtime. Otherwise, please make use of symlinks possible.

This is what I have been trying to do on the shell originally:

# ls -al /dev/GRUB_BOOT_TEST_DISK
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 5 Jun 12 17:17 /dev/GRUB_BOOT_TEST_DISK -> loop7

# grub-bios-setup --directory=/tmp/tmp.IDdNMT35bf/boot/grub2/i386-pc --device-map= /dev/GRUB_BOOT_TEST_DISK
Invalid device `/dev/GRUB_BOOT_TEST_DISK'.
Usage: grub-bios-setup [OPTION...] DEVICE
Try `grub-bios-setup --help' or `grub2-bios-setup --usage' for more
information.

# grub2-bios-setup --directory=/tmp/tmp.IDdNMT35bf/boot/grub2/i386-pc --device-map= /dev/loop7 && echo GOOD
GOOD

I'm referring to GRUB 2.00~beta6 here.
