At the point where GNUBG decides to resign it takes that position and looks to see if it is a normal loss / gammon loss / backgammon loss and then resigns the number of points for that position (multiplied by the cube value)

The bot will possibly end a match by resigning more points than the opponent may need to win.

This isn't a bug. For example, winning a 7 point match with 8 or more points is the same as winning with just 7 points. Nothing is gained or lost from the bots perspective - match is over.

It would be a bug if the bot didn't resign enough points in a given situation.

when the game is lost..more specifically the match, the computer will resign more points than the board could possibly be worth which creates higher winning point totals

why?
