The bot doesn't cheat, and doesn't rig the dice in normal operation. This complaint has been made of every bot, and Backgammon paying site.

GNUBG offers a couple solutions. You can gt the dice rolls from an external random number generating site (not related to Backgammon). The randomness is generated by Atmospheric noise. That site is called http://random.org . GNUGB supports this site for getting rolls.

To use it go to Settings Menu/Options, select the Tab called "Dice". There are a number of options, and one should be http://www.random.org . Select that hit okay.

On the same settings page as above there is the option "Manual Dice". This allows you to pick the roll you want as you play. What you can do is take a pair of dice (preferably precision) and throw them from a cup from a reasonable height. Then enter that roll when asked. This allows you to use real world dice that you have personally thrown.

Crash Error fixed, but please HELP with another frustration!

I've played a lot of backgammon.

I have GNU set at casual play, yet I lose 5, 6, 7 times to 1. When GNU offers a double, it invariably hits at least one open checker.

I've logged doubles for about 30 games, and GNU gets doubles 5, 6, 7, 8 to one of mine, and they are typically high value doubles.

If the dice rolls are purely random, how can GNU be so consistently lucky.

What settings can I use to get purely random rolls. At the near lowest competitive setting, shouldn't a pretty good player at least about break even?

HELP!!!

I'm using Version GNU Backgammon 0.90-mingw 20120408

Thanks,

The .14.3 version of GNUBG is close to being a decade old. The screenshot tells me it is a much older release. Can you try installing the newer version (2012 version) here:

http://www.gnubg.org/index.php?itemid=56

Just click on the "Install Archive" link, download and run it.

I could have easily won the match with only 2 pieces on points 23 and 24 and GNU with 9 pieces left.

GNU offered a win (1 flag), I stupidly (mistakenly) accepted, but game froze, and I was unable to play a tie-breaker match.
