Yes, safe to close this.

Apparently though there are a other functions that don't work even though this now compiles properly. But that's a issue.

Wed 09 May 2012 07:54:03 AM UTC, comment #12:

Recent code, which includes Natalia's tidier compilation patch, Rocky's sed fixes, and rocky's cdio_generic_free() fix, compiles and runs safely on 10.7.3, 10.6.8 and 10.3.9.

Safe to close this?

Buenas noches Nigel,

http://git.savannah.gnu.org/gitweb/?p=libcdio.git;a=commit;h=df2b1f120b086b37979f5582f7e91f41d9e8e310

you came two days late xD

Anyway, thanks.

I'm working on the osx driver on https://github.com/claunia/libcdio-osx to not be intrusive to rocky's work on other parts (and even then I am very intrusive :p), so feel free to use github's issues to send me the bugs.

Regards

Natalia Portillo <claunia>
Wed 02 May 2012 01:34:10 AM UTC, comment #10:

Ciao Natalia, Rocky.

That is the same memory problem I saw. It seems scsi_tuple is being set. I assume it is a memory corruption in the generic_img_private_t structure after some Mac OS X calls. Still trying to work out why.

I will enter another bug ticket, and can provide a partial fix that changes some of the free calls to free_osx(), and some to cdio_generic_free(). Technically, either should be usable, and I will try to work toward that eventually.

Ciao, ciao!

In a nutshell:
When there is no disc, no drive is found (expected behaviour on IOKit)
When the disc is BD, drive is not found either (bug)
When the disc is CD or DVD, drive is found, then there is another wild free()

I have a system with 10.2, 10.3, 10.4 and 10.5, another system with 10.6 and another with 10.7, so no problem, just code blind what is non OS X specific and I will check the OS X specific things :p

Thanks. I think I found the problem. However as I don't have OSX to test on, I feel like I am coding a little blind here.

So check if git commit f8ab393..37cca69 fixes things.

It's the same "free" thing Nigel is talking about in his last comment.

It seems that as no drive is found, nothing is allocated, but it's trying to free it.

The second occurrence of the OSX sed -r vs -E difference has been fixed.

Could you post a gdb traceback for this?

gdb src/cd-info

Perhaps this is related to the fact that there are no CD drives detected?

(By the way Nigel also noticed this. https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?30019

It seems correct.

The current configure includes support also for 10.8? (darwin12)

This had been addressed in current git sources however your patch using _ENVIRONMENT_MAC_OS_X_VERSION_MIN_REQUIRED_ is slightly simpler so I've used that instead.

Please double check to make sure I haven't broken things.

Thanks again for the bug report and patch.
