I committed some changes to fix the size of the enum widgets. This discards all of Qt's autoresizing features, which I guess is what was expected: the size set in the enum widget is not a hint but a fixed value.

I don't see the problem with the g's in Converters->Image. This must be some problem with Qt and your system configuration (?)

I had taken the sizes given as arguments to be minimal size hints. Qt always adds some whitespace to the right, hence the variations. I could change the amount of whitespace making it shrinkable to zero but at the expense of a little bit of work (subclassing and rewriting QComboBox::sizeHint())

If I understand them as fixed sizes, then we are not taking advantage of Qt's layout system and its ability to make the drop down menus larger as needed. Take for instance Converters->Verbatim, the enum-widgets are set to be 5em wide, which is insufficient for one of the entries. If we fix the size, then they are not properly displayed.

The first choice then? Make the white space shrink if the content fits in the minimum size?

Even the shapes of menu popup buttons change between a minimal vertical and a slightly larger size.

Another strange thing is that the minimal size of a widget is sometimes a bit too small. For instance, under 'Converters' and 'Image', the bottoms of the 'g's in 'Svg' are missing, in the two last lines of the widget.

The preferences widget still has a problem with the buttons. For instance, the buttons 'On the footer' and 'Detailed menus' are wider than the others. Under 'Keyboard', the 'pagedown' button is also too wide, without any reason (it would fit in default width).

In a Scheme sessions, do

Several layout problems occur (under MacOS at least):

  • The size of the window is not automatically minimized

when switching to another tab

  • Some of the input fields do not resize appropriately.

For instance, when increasing the width of "General",
"On the footer" becomes to wide (Interactive quesions).

  • When minimizing the width of the window for

"Converters", "Html", the L of MathML is partially clipped.
